Supplemental Tax Payment Information

This unsecured supplemental property tax bill assessed against you as a former owner of the property is to be paid in addition to the regular property tax bill for the fiscal year stated above, and is due now. This bill retroactively taxes the supplemental assessment value resulting from a reappraisal of the property.

Because of a subsequent change in ownership, the pro rata tax due is allocated and billed between the former owner(s) and the present owner of the property in proportion to their total number of days of ownership during the fiscal year from the date of the reappraisable event.

The TOTAL AMOUNT DUE must be paid by the date indicated on the payment remittance stub attached to this bill. If the taxes are not paid, a 10% delinquent penalty attaches at 5 p.m. on the date indicated on the stub. If the taxes are unpaid by 5 p.m. on the last day of the second succeeding month after the 10% penalty attaches, an additional penalty of 1.5% attaches to them on the first day of each month thereafter to the time of payment.

All delinquent unsecured bills will automatically have a lien recorded against the assessee at the county recorder's office immediately after the delinquency. The lien, which has the effect of a judgment lien, will be upon all real and personal property. The lien can only be removed when the bill is paid in full and a release of lien recorded with an additional cost to the taxpayer for each county in which the lien was recorded.

Make checks payable to Henry C. Levy, Tax Collector Alameda County. Please remit payment of supplemental property tax bills by a separate check from regular property tax bill payments.
